Mass Effect Goes GOLD

Yes yes yes, only 10 days, and another Bioware game will be in stores for PC. This version will get new inventory and interface systems. Also, PC gamers will receive for FREE add-on “Bring Down The Sky”.

I think it will come in some days, as it was on Xbox360..

Don’t get too excited. Mass Effect uses the same DRM as Bioshock. Requires online activation (as in you will not be able to play it at all on a computer without an internet connection, no phone in activation).

You get three activations ever. Uninstalling doesn’t refund an activation. If you upgrade your system, or reinstall windows, that uses up an activation. One all three are gone, you will have to call EA to beg a customer support person to re-activate it for you every time you upgrade or reinstall windows. That may be a premium call or a toll call if you live outside the US.

It also puts SecuROM on your system, which puts registry entries and files on that can’t be removed without special tools, and aren’t removed when the game is uninstalled.

At the Bioware forums, they are doing their best to cover this up. They are now deleting any posts about the DRM still in the game and banning anyone who posts about it, so warn your friends.
