Atari have announced that the delayed PlayStation 3 version of Alone in the Dark will be “undergo improvements” in terms of gameplay in comparison to the PlayStation 2, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii versions. Hopefully some of the issues in the other versions will be ironed out to create a much better game.

The company said that the game is on track to ship on June 20 in Europe and June 24 in North America for Xbox 360, PC, Wii and PlayStation 2. The PlayStation 3 version is scheduled for release in autumn 2008.

“With its genre-busting mix of gameplay, wide-screen presentation style and DVD chapter select feature putting the player in control, Alone in the Dark will thrill all gamers,” said Phil Harrison, president of Infogrames.

“It’s a game which will challenge the player but also reward them with a one-of-a-kind videogame experience and a huge amount of fun.”

The Xbox 360 and PC versions of the title were developed by Eden Games, while Hydravision Entertainment was responsible for the Wii and PS2 versions.

In addition to the standard game, Xbox 360, PC and Wii Limited Editions featuring exclusive items will be available at launch from selected European retailers.

Produsser of the Alone in the Dark 5 - Nour Poloni, told what you will able to skip chapters of the game. So, if you will stuck somewhere, you will able to skip to next chapter. On Xbox360 you will need to complete game without skipping chapters, if you want to get “Complete Game Without Skips” achievement, and on PS3 you will not able to get trophy for PS Home, if you will skip chapters. Actually, it’s pretty nice, because games even like Bioshock and GTA have places, which player hates, and want to skip them as fast as he can, because he hates them, they are boring, too hard, or etc. Alone in the Dark 5 - one more step to legendary game?
