Thanks to titles like God of War: Chains of Olympus, and Monster Hunter 2 the PSP has proven that it can be a demand-able portable console even after three years since its release. The sales charts have shown it, and the gaming crowd have proven it, but it gets me wondering what else does the PSP have in store for us? I took at look at future games to be released for the PSP, and the list got me worried. The list contained a few promising titles such as Valhalla Knights 2, as well as Buzz Master Quiz, but nothing from the list seemed to shout out as a PSP hit. We do have one title set for release next year that could bring new life into our beloved portable system. Announced at E3 this year Resistance Retribution is set to bring its chimera invasion onto the PSP in third person perspective. While it’s great to see Insomniac one again coming back to the system we need more triple A titles like these to show audiences that the PSP is no system to be messed with. GameXtract has created a list of the top ten most wanted titles that we feel would make the PSP a hit in the months to come.

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has today announced that the DualShock 3 controller will be available across Europe on July 4, 2008. The wireless controller includes the motion sensing of the previously available Sixaxis plus a vibration function which has been sorely missing for PS3 gamers.
David Reeves, President and CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, commented: “We are delighted to confirm that DualShock 3 will be released in SCEE territories in early July. We hope this will add to the intense gaming experience for our fans, as we continue to evolve PS3, its software and its peripherals.”
Sony says that almost all future PS3 releases will support DualShock 3 and is already compatible with many existing PS3 titles, including Resistance: Fall of man, GT5: Prologue and Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune.
DualShock 3 will be released on July 4 priced £39.99.

Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg says “the days of Sony snowing the consumers and the press are over,” that the company has failed to deliver on numerous promises, and challenges Sony’s latest European PS3 sales figures.
“We have been fighting Sony’s promises from the day we entered the market,” Greenberg told Destructoid. “Three years ago at E3 they showed what PS3 games would supposedly look like with the Killzone 2 video, that we are now learning will ship four years later. That means that we will have shipped Gears of War and Gears of War 2 before they can even get Killzone out the door.

Old habits die hard in gaming it seems, as former Xbox boss Peter Moore couldn’t resist taking a swipe at one old sparring partner this week, expressing dismay at the ongoing delay of Sony’s Home service for PlayStation 3.
The EA Sports president’s comments came less than 24 hours after PlayStation boss Kaz Hirai apologised again for the latest delay to Sony’s ambitious online social networking project, with a release now set for this autumn.

The engineers at Sony can’t be too thrilled with fighting the constant battle against PSP hackers, issuing firmware updates that “strengthen security” in a futile attempt to curb piracy and homebrew applications. Going by a recent survey commissioned by Sony Computer Entertainment, passed on to us by a reader who was asked to take part, the company seems to be looking into the reasons why PSP owners are opening up their portables.
Sony reps call the survey a part of “ongoing PSP consumer research”, attempting to learn more about the size of the PSP hacking population and the mentality behind the behavior. Questions like “Do you know of anyone who has “hacked,” or modified, transferred and customized their PSP firmware and software?” were included elsewhere in the poll.
We’re following up with Sony to learn more about its research.

Scott Steinberg seems to be in a PR overhaul lately, popping up in several interviews. This latest installment has what some would call a challenge to the competition, but we won’t focus on that flamebait comment. He talks about how Sony hasn’t had a big keynote speech this year yet — he feels the Blu-ray victory is good enough for now. We’re personally expecting a big one at E3. He hints also that movie and music download services may be coming soon — perhaps also to be covered at our expected E3 speech?
Big name titles, he says, will keep momentum going for the PS3 this year, but he also mentions the possibility of more downloadable PS-One and PS2 games on the PlayStation Store. Steinberg says there are “on-going sessions” to get more third-party titles up on the store, so who knows, before the end of the year we might have a much more impressive library than we do now. Maybe it’ll almost rival the insane selection available on the Japanese store.
Speaking of games, there’s no open Home beta now because Sony has set the bar so very high, they don’t want any more people to see it until it meets their standards to get into the public eye. We’d like to see more PS-One and PS2 games on the store, and an open beta for Home would be nice. We’ll see what happens this year!
